Check Out This Awesome 3D Model of Medusa Made in Blender

Vertex Arcade showcased a new CG character and shared a video breakdown explaining how it was made.

3D Artist and Developer Vertex Arcade, whose name you've probably recognized thanks to their renowned Blender add-ons, has unveiled an awesome new character model depicting a beautiful 3D take on Medusa from Greek mythology.

Based on Lord Gris' Medusa illustration, the full-body model was set up using Blender and its Grease Pencil tool, employed to set up the outlines and capture the painterly art style of the original concept. Additionally, the author utilized Geometry Nodes for the character's hair and his custom-made, downloadable Customisable Female Basemesh, which allows its user to skip the time-consuming process of modeling a character and get straight into the design.

Additionally, Vertex Arcade has shared a comprehensive video breakdown detailing each production step behind the new model – from posing the model, to retopology and texturing, to shaders, compositing, and rendering:

Notably, this is not the first time Vertex Arcade has managed to bring a 2D concept into a 3D space. Previously, the artist also recreated Gaziter's original character Flare in 3D, paying particular attention to the incredible galaxy material:
